Cross Bay Brewery
Concept creation / logo / beer brands design
One of our regular clients, Morecambe Bay Brewery, asked us to rebrand a micro-brewery they owned (Brysons) ready for a major re-launch.
Several names and concepts emerged as likely options, until the name Cross Bay Brewery hit us as the best.
The Cross Bay route from Morecambe to the South Cumbria peninsula and surrounding Lakeland towns has been traversed for centuries. And there's a clear association for a brewery brand in that much of that traffic was travelling between coaching inns either side of the bay.
We were also attracted by the fact that the often treacherous route required assistance and knowledge from 'Cross Bay Guides', whose expertise was passed down from generation to generation – much as a brewer's skills are handed from master brewer to apprentice.
The fact that MBW is owned by the 'Cross' family was a happy coincidence!
Once the name of the new brewery was established, senior designer, Robin Zahler set about creating the iconic brand, featuring a traditional 'coach and four', set at a slight tilt to reflect the undulating nature of Morecambe Bay.
From there he designed a series of attractive and eye-catching new beer pump clips, as well as stationery ranges and full brand guidelines ready for the brewery's successful launch in autumn 2011.
