Fat Media donate additional funds to help Nepal earthquake-affected Kunde Hospital
On the 25th April 2015, Nepal was hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that threw the region into turmoil, and tragically killed more than eight-thousand people. It has subsequently been hit by another smaller seismic tremor; a 7.3 magnitude quake that has meant further interruption to the struggling relief effort.
Fat Media has been especially saddened to hear that an institution close to our heart, the Kunde Hospital in Nepal, has been caught up in the disaster. The hospital is located in the isolated village of Kunde, which lies in the shadow of Mount Everest and is therefore within the affected area.
Recently we pledged to donate £15,000 over five years to the Kunde Hospital, in order to fund and expand a midwife programme in the Solu-Khumbu area. Further to this, Fat Media have pledged a further £2,000 to help with the rebuilding and restocking of medicines. It is our hope that this donation will not only help with the relief effort, but also assist the hospital in its continued amazing work for the community, who will undoubtedly still be reeling from such a life-threatening natural disaster.
There are a number of ways you can donate. Check out The Guardian's article outlining the various charities involved.
