Significant improvements to Morecambe’s central seafront streets and buildings will be carried out in a new scheme for which Fat Media’s graphic designers have created striking branding concepts.
Fat Media was asked to design a new set of promotional materials for the ‘View for Eric’ initiative which aims to improve the Victorian and art deco buildings in the heart of the town, as well as some of the streets and spaces surrounding them.
It was an exciting project for us, particularly as many of our staff are born and bred Morecambrians proud to be asked to take an active part in the improvement scheme.
The Heritage Lottery Fund and Lancaster City Council-backed scheme’s scope covers the part of Morecambe that is ‘seen’ by the famous Eric Morecambe statue which looks across from its central promenade location.
We used Eric’s iconic glasses as the main design element, set them against a bright, sunny background and added the slogan ‘Towards Morecambe’s Brand New, Bright Tomorrow’ - an adaptation of a line from the famous Morecambe and Wise song, ‘Bring Me Sunshine’.
The materials, which include banners, folders and leaflets, will be used to attract applications from property owners wanting to obtain building improvement grants.
