Google have recently updated their search results algorithm which now means that each page has the opportunity to have its own level of quality and importance. While Google has always been able to read and rank each individual page on a website, this update places more importance on each page having its own ranking. The quality of the home page on a site will now hold less relevance to the ranking of individual pages.
With this update it is important, particularly on e-commerce product pages, to create high quality, unique content for all products. Google now has the power to index longer keyword phrases more accurately, for each page on your website. This means that the optimisation of each page is now being ranked more undependably from the site as a whole.
