Red cards reap awards
With football fever gripping the nation once again, we’ve loved working on a Euro 2016 marketing campaign for our client McBookie, a Scottish online gambling platform who champion Scottish sports.
McBookie approached Fat Media to help raise their profile amongst Scottish football fans during the Euro 2016 tournament, and promote a free bet offer to new customers. We have worked together on a viral game concept, to engage football fans and provide a little fun too.
The game is inspired by Scottish referee Willie Collum, who is notorious for issuing red cards and awarding penalties in the matches he officiates. Titled 'Willie Or Won’t He', players must issue as many red cards as possible within the time limit, moving around the pitch to intercept players.
We have developed the game using HTML5, which means it is fully responsive – resizing to fit the screen of any device. It also responds to screen rotation – so mobile users can switch to a landscape position with ease.
When the time runs out, players are presented with McBookie’s Euro 2016 free bet offer, as well as quick links to share their score on Facebook or Twitter.
The game goes live just one day before Willie’s first match of the tournament – France vs Albania in Group A.
