A team of Fat Media’s Lancaster-based staff are preparing for a 12-hour football marathon, in aid of HIV charity Tackle Africa.
When Does the Challenge Take Place?
The sporting challenge takes place on 16th July, where 16 teams will battle it out on the pitch playing a 6-a-side tournament for 12 hours straight. Substitutions are allowed, and there are a few short breaks to give players a well-deserved rest! It will be the fifth time a Fat Media team have entered the competition; an overall winner will be announced at the end of the 12 hours.
More Information About the Charity
The charity this is all in aid of, Tackle Africa, uses the popularity of football to educate children and young people in sub-Saharan Africa about the danger of HIV, and how to reduce the risk of contracting it. They train coaches to deliver football drills that are designed with a health message included, so participants learn as they play.
Our Football Team
Our team of footballing Fatties includes developers, account managers and digital marketers, under the team name The Desolate Ravens. When asked the story behind the name, team captain Tom explained “Back when we first entered the marathon, we held an internal competition between everyone to find the best name. Mike Cook chose ‘Desolate ravens hovering over the carrion of your demise’, but it had to be shortened because it was too big for the team sheet!”
If you would like to support our team and the fantastic work of Tackle Africa, you can sponsor them via their Just Giving page.
